Branford, CT Makes an Impact!
Alcoa Howmet celebrated its 40th anniversary in Branford, CT with a Make an Impact launch event attended by more than 75 employees, community members and local delegates.
Representatives from the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions were on hand to show employees how to analyze their personal carbon footprint using the Make an Impact calculator and share information on how to save money and save the planet.
Local experts and organizations also came out to share tips and resources to help employees save money on energy costs. Employees were able to check out a hybrid car, purchase subsidized compact fluorescent bulbs and even shred personal documents on-site to be recycled.
Alcoa Foundation has partnered with C2ES on Global Climate Change to mobilize individual action on climate change. Since its launch in September 2008, the program has helped Alcoa families and neighbors identify close to $1 million in energy savings - the equivalent of 2.5 million pounds of CO2!
