Your role in teaching the next generation about the value of energy efficiency and protecting the environment is key to the future of the planet. The Make an Impact: Change Our 2morrow schools’ challenge is an opportunity to incorporate this topic into your classroom and extracurricular activities.
National Energy Education Development Project (NEED)
The National Energy Education Development (NEED) Project, established over 30 years ago through a Congressional Resolution, works to provide energy education curriculum and training to every appropriate classroom in the nation.
NEED’s mission is to promote an energy conscious and educated society by creating effective networks of students, educators, business, government, and community leaders to design and deliver objective, multi-sided energy education programs.
NEED’s Curriculum Guides and Program Resources
NEED publishes complete curriculum materials for grades K-12 that include games, projects, infobooks, and other materials. Separate materials are available for Primary (K-2), Elementary (3-5), Intermediate (6-8) and Secondary (9-12) levels. All materials are downloadable PDF files or can be ordered in printed form through NEED’s Resources Catalog.
These curriculum materials can be correlated to many State Education Standards. NEED publishes correlation documentation for applicable states.
