National Zoo staff and volunteers will work together to improve the health of the Zoo’s ecosystem by picking up aluminum cans, food wrappers, and other litter in a wooded area of the Zoo near the Connecticut Avenue entrance.  Register by 8 a.m. in Parking Lot A, which is adjacent to the cleanup site. Volunteers should wear sunscreen, bug spray, appropriate clothing, and sturdy shoes. Trash bags and gloves will be provided.

Join us for a day of restoration work at the AudubonConservation Education Center. We’ll be planting and launching several floating islands, which will help to improve water quality in Deep Mill Pond. We’ll also be working on installing our habitat gardens to attract birds and butterflies around our building. Work and fun starts at 8 AM -- finishes by noon for a BBQ lunch. During lunch Amy Cilimburg will share a short presentation on Birds and Wildlife in a Warming World.
