Tera Grinnell: Make an Impact Hero
HR Manager, Alcoa Howmet in LaPorte, IN

Tera Grinnell and Jim Beck recently received the Energy Patriot Award from Indiana U.S. Senator Dick Lugar recognizing their efforts on behalf of Make an Impact. Tera and her dedicated team made the most of a cross-town rivalry to get students at two local middle schools to participate in the 2011 Make an Impact: Change Our 2morrow schools’ challenge. LaPorte's Paul F. Boston Middle School was the $5,000 grand prize winner of the 15-school competition.

Jim and his team in Warrick educated students through in-classroom presentations on Alcoa recycling and energy efficiency concepts. Between the two locations, they engaged close to 4,000 students, teachers and parents in the two communities. Thank you, Tera and Jim, for making an impact and for helping so many students and their families learn more about energy conservation!

Meet Sabrina Gonzalez, a Make an Impact Hero.

Sabrina Gonzalez: Make an Impact Hero
HR Manager, Alcoa Fastening Systems in Carson, CA

When Sabrina Gonzalez walks the walk, she does it on a bicycle. Biking to and from work to save gas and carbon is only the beginning of Sabrina's commitment to a low-carbon life. Sabrina, HR Manager at Alcoa Fastening Systems in Carson, CA, recently helped spearhead the June 16 launch of Make an Impact at Carson, where more than 300 Alcoans got the message about saving energy, saving money and saving the planet through simple, low-cost lifestyle changes that can be done at home. A true environmental ambassador, she's been taking Make an Impact on the road, presenting the program to members of the Carson Rotary Club. Well done, Sabrina, a needy planet salutes you!

This is a series profiling Alcoans who are making an impact on climate change. If you know someone who has gone above and beyond the call of duty, nominate them by emailing us at makeanimpact@c2es.org
