SCE&G, Berkeley County's electricity provider, offers on-line energy reduction tools, such as home energy audits, energy efficiency and weatherization tips, and appliance guides. SCE&G also offers 4 net metering options, which provides a way for customers interested in generating their own renewable electricity to power their homes or businesses and even sell the excess energy back to SCE&G. In addition there is a "green power" initiative, an automatic tax-deductible contribution to Palmetto Clean Energy (PaCE) can be added to your monthly bill to go toward the future development of renewable energy sources for South Carolina.

The Institute's goal is to enable all South Carolinians to have a healthy, comfortable and energy-efficient home. It advocates and educates others to build, repair and renovate using "green" choices that will cause little or no harm to the environment. The Institute offers an on-line home energy audit, sustainable development consulting services, and maintains a green builders directory. Also offers one-hour workshops every month that provide a foundation for making your home and life more energy efficient and sustainable.
