LARA
The Los Angeles Regional Agency, also known as LARA, is a consortium of 16 member cities in Los Angeles County. In 2004, the California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) approved the formation of LARA as a regional agency whose mission is to assist members in meeting and exceeding the 50% waste diversion mandates of State Assembly Bill 939.

The transportation issues the Commission is responsible for include highways, bus services, aviation services, commuter and freight railroads, bicycling and bike paths, as well as many other transportation areas. VCTC also controls and reviews the use of federal, state and local funds for transportation and related projects. Additionally, the Commission serves as the Airport Land Use Commission, Service Authority for the Freeway Emergencies and the Congestion Management Agency. Created by state legislation in 1988, the Ventura County Transportation Commission began operations in 1989. At that time it assumed all of the transportation responsibilities and resources of the Ventura County Association of Governments.

San Francisco's Environment Department List of Approved Products
San Francisco’s Environment Department has launched a “green” products Website for businesses and consumers who concerned about toxics and chemicals used in everyday products such as cleaning, cosmetics, automotive, and food storage, reports the San Francisco Chronicle. The Website, www.SFApproved.org, lists more than 1,000 products and services that meet strict health and environmental standards developed by Environment Department specialists. Guidelines are available for a wide range of products from janitorial cleaning products to light bulbs to help businesses and consumers buy environmentally-friendly products.
The site was originally designed for the city’s purchasing department in the wake of San Francisco’s 2005 ordinance requiring the city use green alternatives, reports the newspaper. But after completing the research, officials decided to open the portal to consumers.
