Make an Impact Part of Whitehall’s 60th Anniversary Celebration
On September 10, Alcoa Whitehall celebrated its 60th anniversary with a Family Day, offering employees a great opportunity to showcase Alcoa Howmet products to family and friends. Many employees took notice of the environmentally-themed Make an Impact tent. The MAI and Kids Impact team promoted responsible use of natural resources and mobilized individual action for energy conservation. Visitors to the tent learned about local environmental efforts and discovered that the Make an Impact online carbon calculator is a quick and easy way to make a difference in personal energy use. A bike was also raffled off to those who completed the calculator!
The Make an Impact team was supported by Grand Valley State University, Annis Water Resources, Conservation District, Land Conservancy, Cardo JFNew, Alcoa Howmet EHS, and Rypma Chevrolet—who featured a Chevy Volt. Additional displays showed the breadth of Alcoa’s global business—from the CFM56 engine to the 22 product videos throughout the plants—and the health and vitality of regional businesses and community organizations.
